Zombieland (Blu-ray) (PICK OF THE WEEK)
I wasn’t expecting too much out of Zombieland when I first saw it, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s easily the best zombie-comedy of 2009. The movie stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. It also features a cameo appearance by a much-loved celebrity. It was directed by first time director Ruben Fleischer.
Reviews were generally favorable, with a score of 73 on Metacritic.
Who liked it? Michael Phillips, Nathan Rabin, Lisa Schwarzbaum, and most critics who reviewed it.
Who hated it? No critics gave it an extremely negative review. Manohla Dargis thought it was so-so.
The House of the Devil (Blu-ray)
The House of the Devil is an indie horror film with the look of the genre movies from the early 80’s. The film was written and directed by Ti West, and stars Greta Gerwig and Tom Noonan.

New York, I Love You is an anthology film from the producers of Paris, Je T’aime featuring ten shorts from directors such as Allen Hughes, Brett Ratner, and Natalie Portman. The shorts feature a large selection of fairly famous actors including Bradley Cooper, Shia LaBeouf, Orlando Bloom, Christina Ricci, and more.
The reviews were mixed, with a score of 49 on Metacritic.
